On a plane
Some carriers give passengers travelling with infants or young children priority boarding.
It is worth checking this option on the carrier’s website or asking at the airport at the check-in desk.
On board the plane
As a standard, children up to the age of two travel on an adult’s lap. Only one small child may travel this way with one adult. Older children travel under the care of adults in their seats.
Amenities
Detailed information can be found on the website of a given carrier. It is worth checking whether the airline has baby changing facilities available on board, and whether it offers the possibility of heating baby food. It is customary for carriers to carry additional accessories for children, e.g. a car seat or a baby cot, for a fee.
It is worth taking on board:
- diapers and moisturising wipes,
- food and drink necessary for the child during the journey,
- blanket and a small pillow,
- favourite toy, books,
- change of clothes.
