Attractions in Funchal

Sao Tiago Fort

is an extraordinary fort that we will recognize from afar thanks to its bright yellow colors. Built in 1614, the fort was the island’s key defense against pirate attacks. An ideal place to learn about the history of the island and walks in the historic courtyard, where you can admire the wonderful panorama of the island.

Zona Velha

that is the historic old town of the city. It offers walks through narrow streets full of cafes, pastry shops and restaurants. There are also stalls where we can find local products. An interesting attraction are also painted doors of restaurants and houses, made by local artists, which add contrast to this place.

Monte Palace Madeira

is a beautiful garden from which we can admire the entire Funchal. Seventy thousand square meters of lush, well-kept greenery together with the thematic division of the park make each part of it unique and worth seeing.

Mercado dos Lavradores

it is a must-see for all tourists who want to discover the flavors of Madeira. A wonderful fruit market offering passion fruit flavored with tomatoes, lemons and oranges! This is a place where you can get to know the local people better, who will be happy to help you choose local products.
