Brussels is one of the most important cities in Europe. It is the administrative, commercial, financial and scientific heart of Belgium. Most institutions of national importance have their headquarters here. Brussels is also an important European capital with numerous tourist and cultural attractions.
Tourist attractions in Brussels
The biggest attraction and hallmark of Brussels is the Atomium – a model of an iron crystal magnified 150 billion times over 100 meters high. It was built for the World Expo in 1958.
Important points of a trip to Brussels should be, among others: the Grand Place with the Gothic Town Hall (Hotel de Ville), St. Michael and St. Guduli on the Treurenberg hill, and a figurine of a peeing boy – Manneken Pis (a bronze fountain, which is a symbol of the city).
It is also worth visiting EU institutions, a conservatory and research institutes, universities and numerous museums: cocoa and chocolate, brewing, film, comics, toys, fine arts and musical instruments.
