Attractions in Malaga

Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación

or the Cathedral of the Incarnation, which was built over 200 years. The Renaissance building is considered a symbol of the city. The cathedral itself, like other Spanish religious buildings, is extremely richly decorated. To see its interior, it is best to go to the northern entrance from Calle Císter street. Inside there is a small museum with religious exhibits. During the tour, tourists also have the opportunity to go to the roof itself with a guide, which allows you to see the panorama of the city from a unique perspective.

Teatro Romano

is a several hundred-year-old theater dating back to the 1st century, which was discovered in 1951. It is located in the very center of the city. It is an extremely charming place, worth visiting especially in the evening. Theatrical performances take place there then. At this time, the walls of the Alcazaba and the ancient ruins are additionally illuminated, which together create a unique atmosphere.

Picasso Museum

The most famous resident of Malaga is Pablo Picasso, who was born there, which makes it all the more worth visiting. The museum is located in a 16th-century building – Buenavista Palace, which was specially adapted for this purpose. The exhibition presents a collection of the artist’s works from 1892 to 1972. The collection includes paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures and ceramics showing the artist’s extraordinary versatility.

Castillo de Gibralfaro

The castle was built in the 10th century and was rebuilt again in the 14th century. It used to protect the Alcazaba fortress located at the foot of the hill. Currently, only the defensive walls remain of the building, from which you can see an extraordinary panorama of Malaga. You can reach the top of the hill by car, bus or on foot. We recommend choosing a walking tour, because it takes only half an hour and allows you to admire the landscape from the viewpoints located on the route.
