City of chocolate

… and many world-famous names. Among others, Ozzy Osbourne (leader of the aforementioned band Black Sabbath) was born in Birmingham, and the famous inventor James Watt set up his first factory here.
Visiting this post-industrial city with its extensive canal system is reminiscent of walking through Italian Venice. Although nowadays the canals are not used for transport purposes, they still create a unique atmosphere and there are many bars, pubs and restaurants. While in Birmingham, definitely worth a visit:

Chocolate Factory, where you will learn about the entire production process by, among other things, sniffing cocoa beans, tasting hot chocolate and ending with a visit to the largest Cadbury shop in the world.

• National Marine Life Centre

The largest aquarium in the UK, home to over 2,000 marine creatures.

The Jewellery Quarter, home to around 400 jewellery shops. While you’re here, take a look at the Jewellery Quarter Museum.
